It subtly addresses so many little things that children face. First of all, Pete has a favorite food, bananas, and he wants to eat them all the time. Many children go through this phase, but Pete does it a little differently. He finds different ways to eat his bananas and combines them with different foods. The second subtlety is that he eats a bad banana and swears he will never eat them again. He tries a ton of different foods (again getting picky eaters to try things is shown here) but none come close to the banana. Then he goes to a race and sees his friend eating a banana. He asks his friend for one (giving second chances?) and finds it is not gross like the last one and once again loves bananas. Also I would like to point out that his friend is not a cat but a monkey. This to me shows that our friends can be different from us but we still have things in common (bananas in this case). I love all of the subtle messages in this story and it is an easy reader for children. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
