A decade ago, if you'd walked into a bookstore looking for a zombie novel, you would have found only two: Brian Keene's The Rising and Joe McKinney's Dead City. Long recognized as one of the driving voices that launched the world's fascination with the living dead, Joe McKinney's Dead World novels have emerged as seminal works in the Horror genre. Now, collected for the first time in Dead World Resurrection, are all of Joe McKinney's zombie short stories. Here you'll not only find tales that provide invaluable links between the various Dead World novels, such as "Ethical Solution," "Dating in Dead World," and the award-winning story "Survivors," but also nightmare glimpses into other post-apocalyptic worlds told in the inimitable Joe McKinney fashion. From the bleak political satire of "State of the Union" to the historical vignettes of "Starvation Army" and "Paradise of the Living Dead," this collection features the full range of McKinney's horrific mastery of the living dead. The zombie has grown up since Joe McKinney first penned Dead City, yet he has continued to stand out among the throng of voices telling tales of the undead. Dead World Resurrection shows why.… (altro)

Great short zombie stories. Dark and rotting like a zombie should be. I enjoyed them and will read more from this author. ( )

This collection of zombie stories was an interesting read. Seems the author wanted to elaborate more deeply on the zombie theme, as one of the stories involved zombie houses. I highly recommend this quick read if you want to enjoy a variety of zombie themed short stores. ( )

Fun book of short stories that was especially enjoyed by my teen son. Long recognized as one of the driving voices that launched the world's fascination with the living dead, Joe McKinney's Dead World novels have emerged as seminal works in the Horror genre. If you like zombies, this is the book for you.

Joe McKinney's publishers really want you to believe that he is some godfather of the Zombie horror genre, even being the driving force behind the launching of the entire genre (yes, it says it on the cover.) I don't think that is quite true, but I did read the Dead World trilogy, and I liked them well enough, so I was more than happy to receive an advanced readers edition of his collected short stories.

I'm not usually a big fan of short stories, but I did enjoy these for the most part. As usual, the stories are hit and miss, but there were some particularly good ones in the mix. I really liked Jimmy Finder, Paradise of the Living Dead, and Survivors, each of which were spectacular. Some were not so great, such as Dating in Dead World and Starvation army, but overall I'm pleased with the collection and I'm glad I finally got around to reading it. ( )

I received this book as an early reviewer and was very excited to read it as I have not read this author previously. The stories all revolved around the same city and same event, which I had not before seen in a short story collection. I found that very cool! It was as if you were reading different accounts from people who survived in the same geographical location. There was also a story about dating in an apocolyptic world! Talk about creative. I highly recommend this book.
