However, I was lucky enough to be reading a library copy that contained someone's notes. They had a post- it note on over half the pages with comments or questions. So not only did I really enjoy this book, I enjoyed the experience of reading it through someone else's eyes. ( ) Most kids want a dog or a cat for a pet. Not the smartest boy in Smartytown! He wants a pet that’s “easy”. He begs his parents, and they agree that he can get a pet book. Oh the excitement of having a pet that doesn’t need to eat or drink, nor will it shed. As an added bonus, the boy can read it and fall into the tales inside the pages. It seems like the perfect pet, until it goes missing. Where can it be? What makes a pet book better than a regular pet? Will the boy and his book be reunited? Enjoy the unique illustrations in this vibrant picture book, which tells the story just as easily as the words do. I was drawn to the bright colored cover and I like the way the illustrator draws our eye to the boy walking his pet book. My Pet Book by Bob Staake is a double treasure because the interesting illustrations hold so many clues. It's a book that an emerging reader could easily tell just from looking at the pictures. It's a fun read for kids and book lovers of all ages. By the end of the book I was ready to curl up with one of my favorites and enjoy some one on one book time. I liked this book for 3 reasons. First, the illustrations are vibrant and eye-catching. The illustrations are full of bright colors and different shapes so they catch and hold your attention. One of my favorite scenes was when the boy was reading the book and imagining himself in all the different stories. Second, I liked it because it was funny and silly. When I read the title, I expected it to be a basic book about different types of pets, but to my surprise it was a silly story about a book being someone’s pet. It was funny which makes reading entertaining. One particularly funny line was when Staake described the book as a “frisky, red hardcover.” The third reason I enjoyed this book was because it sounded lyrical. He used rhymes to create this flow, for example, “It never needed bathing, and its would never droop, but best of all, that little pet… it didn’t even poop!” This was also a very funny line! The big idea of the story is to show how books can be fun and bring you joy, as stated by one of the last lines, “It’s cuz every book’s a friend!” I loved this book for many reasons. The plot of this story was very well developed and clever. When the book first starts, the reader thinks that it will be about the typical pets that people have. As the story goes on, the boy decides to have a pet book that he loves so much. This story is funny and silly for young readers. The illustrations are another reason why I enjoy this book. On each page there are bright colors and crazy shapes that catch the readers eye. The pictures throughout the book help to tell the story and engage the reader. Lastly, I really enjoyed the main character that chose to have a pet book. This character shows young readers that reading books is a positive thing. Many young students will love the character because he is silly and somewhat relatable to them. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
