The only detail that bothered me was at the very end....maybe the last few sentences. Does this mean another book could involve Lynn and Michael. The graphic detail that Cook provides in his novels is amazing---you can picture everything happening---I can't imagine how he has managed to produce such an enormous number of books -- so impressive to see his incredible creativity, over and over!! It's always interesting to see what others write in their reviews of the very same book....each to his/her own opinions! It took me a long time to get through this. To me, it was just a run of the mill story. A lot of it I found hard to believe. Not the premise, which was pretty good, but the idea that medical students could get away with the stuff these two did. And the ending seemed rushed, like the author just wanted to get it over with The premise might have been worth another star except that the plot was easy to figure out from an early description of the building that was central to the story. What really dragged this book down for me was a thoroughly unlikeable MC. For a graduating medical student (like 4-6 weeks from graduating, in the story’s timeline), she was impulsive, spoiled, tactless, clueless, and reckless. Add to that the unbelievable lack of knowledge. The specific scene was one in which she and her BFF (an underprivileged, black, ex-football player - no stereotypes here) find themselves scamming in the ER. They are assigned a motor vehicle accident victim with blunt trauma to the chest and difficulty breathing. The guy nearly dies before they figure out it’s a collapsed lung. To further test your suspension of disbelief, when the attending ER doc shows up, he praises their keen diagnostic talents and asks if either would be interested in joining his team. More than once, she or her BFF consulted wikipedia for medical info. ... no, I’m not kidding. If that is typical of new doctors entering the field these days, I think I’d rather see a witch doctor or medieval leech. I love medical thrillers, but this one was just not the same quality I remember coming from Robin Cook. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
