This was a pretty good book as it revolves around a town called Terrel Point. There are some legends that need to be left buried in Terrel Point. The legend becomes unearthed when a reporter "Joe" who has come to the area starts digging around into the past and finds that there have been suicides that have taken place in the town. But that is not the only thing he digs up as there is also a demonic presence that has buried itself into Terrel Point.

The more "Joe" delves into the secrets of the town, the more he is turned away from the residents as they do not want him digging too deep as he might find something that they do not want the world to know. The book gains momentum as I became move involved in the story.

This book is not for the faint of heart as it delves deep into the core of gory, sexual violence along with some creepy, twisted horror. This is the first time I have read this author and I am looking forward to finishing the rest of this series. Four stars for this one.

After politics tear out his heart, reporter Joe Kieran leaves the Chicago Tribune and heads for the small coastal town of Terrel. When a teenaged boy jumps off a cliff, Joe encounters nothing but resistance to covering the story. In the end, a "simple suicide" reveals a town haunted by a blood drenched covenant. Local author John Everson has written an award winning tale of dramatic suspense regarding a cliff that houses a menacing force of evil which has demanded blood for centuries. ( )

Covenant by John Everson is an mind grappling read and an amazing ride. Hold on to the edge of your seat as you peer over the cliff at Terrel's Peak and listen to make sure HE is not calling you, filling your being with his voice and his presence.

In this small sleepy all American town, not all is as it seems. Newspaper reporter Joe Kieran is a transplant to Terrel Height's from the busy metropolis of Chicago and had gotten just what he was looking for - slow and predictable. That is until an 18 year old boy jumps off the cliff at Terrel's peak, and Joe uncovers a history of jumping Terrelian's and an even more bizarre and unbelievable history of that cliff.

I waited with baited breath (how cliche?!) for IT to speak to and play with the townspeople like marionettes, and even I slept with the night light on the evening I finished this riveting novel.

If you are looking for some good old fashion Horror, you have come to the right place. John Everson's first novel is a smash hit with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Covenant is a page turn from cover to cover. There was never a dull moment and Everson does an excellent job bringing this tale to life, and does an excellent job making the reader want more. So if you are in the mood for some good horror pick this one up. It's definitely worth it. ( )
