I loved the seagoing setting and some of the characters in this book, but for some reason it didn't come together for me. First, I got attached to the wrong woman at the beginning. Alannah, the heroine's chaperone, is introduced first, and I just wanted her to be the lead in the story. By the time I was a quarter of the way in, I was already a little disengaged. The middle dragged -- I don't know why, though, because there was a lot going on. The ending was stronger, and I suspect I would have enjoyed the book more if I'd read some of the others in this series, which I might do, because all of the boat and privateering stuff really is a lot of fun. (

Thanks Danelle for giving me this to read, such a gorgeous and beautiful story, not to mention how romantic it was, just like a fairytale.

Really took my breathe away completly at times. In parts I found amusing but in others, especially one particular scene - just like I mentioned to you - I was crying so much my eyes stung and found it really hard to breathe it was so emotional.

Rhiannon cannot swim, she's totally petrified of water - the thought of drowning. Captain Conner Merrick is infatuated by her, so he offers to take her for a swimming lesson. All the time whilst learning, she keeps thinking 'wonder what it's like if he kissed me?' and the next thing happens, because it's the 'Gentlemanly thing to do', they are to be wed. (
