Snow White was never such fun as this! Blackstone? Gives a steamy, vampiric and romantic twist to a timeless tale, and does so quite interestingly. The litany of supernatural creatures was a bit confusing to begin with, but with detailed explanations, they were familiar by the end. A sweet, adult fairy tale, that I definitely recommend. I can't wait to see what other stories Jennifer---Has these characters spicing up next! ( )

This is the second story in Blackstream's Blood Prince series, each a retelling of a familiar fairy tale with a paranormal twist. This time she takes on Snow White, and Prince Charming is the vampire Prince Kirill. Kirill and 4 other princes are summoned at each full moon to the World Tree to offer a bit of their blood to the tree. They know they are part of an important prophecy, but don't know exactly what the prophecy says. Kirill has a little more information than the rest, but he's not sharing. In fact , he hordes information like treasure, using it to further his attempts to take over the kingdom from his father. Since his father is also a vampire he certainly won't die antsy time soon, and he has no interest in stepping down. Kirill spends all of his time and energy gaining debts and forced support from others to help him someday overthrow his father.

Irina a lives with her evil stepmother, tortured and eventually marked for death. The huntsman who is supposed to do the evil deed can't go through with it so he sets Irina free. Prince Kirill finds her in the woods and delivers her to the seven dwarves. He also sets out to use her popularity in the kingdom to further his goals. Irina starts having feelings for Kirill but fears he will never see her as anything other than a tool for his use. She flees, but runs into even worse trouble when her stepmother catches up with her. Can Kirill figure out how to save Irina, and in the process save himself?

This is another great Blackstream story. I really like this series and I can't wait for the next installment. My only petty complaint is her one use of the most overused phrase in romance books, paranormal or otherwise -- "...it was hard to tell where he ended and she began." I have read that in so many books it has become like a thorn in my side each new time I see it. I'm starting my petition today to strike that phrase from all new publications of any kind! ( )
