There’s a lot of adventure in this story as in other Gideon Crew books I’ve read. There are many twists, suspense and dangerous situations mixed with scientific explanations making it slightly plausible. It is a bit over the top but it’s a fun thriller and I enjoyed it. ( )

Though this is rather fantastic speculative fiction, and you really need your "suspending your disbelief" button pressed, I still liked it a lot. Who doesn't like a story with a cyclops in it?
Though I'm rather sick of Gideon and his freaking eating animals (oh but he's such a great chef don't you know), I will keep on reading these Gideon Crew books.
Next one I suppose will be about going after that alien on the bottom of the ocean floor down in Anarctica.
Well, you have my Kindle highlight and notes, carry on. ( )

The Lost Island is a magical, SciFi, thriller story. The characters get put into impossible situations with a mythical monster, treasure hunters, and an impossible task. The book is excellent and received five stars in this review. A story really can't get much better than this one. ( )

This is my first Gideon Crew novel and it was very, very good - loved the characters and the story line, plenty of action and a couple of plot twists that kept me engrossed. As with all of the Preston and Child books, the writing is well done and the research is good. I liked the way they tied everything together and even brought in a bit of sci-fi/fantasy. Crew steals a page from the book of Kells and the EES people discover a map underneath that leads to an island that is the home of a plant with extreme healing properties. But oh, if only it were that straightforward. The clues on the map appear indecipherable and the journey is fraught with danger and difficulty and they do find exactly what they expected. I look forward to more Gideon Crew novels. ( )
