As Spring 1940 unfolds in Paris, war is inevitable. AP jouranlsit Josephine Marlow is asked to undertake a dangerous journey back into the borders of the Reich--just when the Fuhrer is gathering his forces for another invasion. If she is successful, a child will live. If not, he will die. And many other children, too. French colonel Andre Cahrdon knows that the undefeated Fuhrer will not hold back his Blitzkrieg long from France. But the plan of attack revealed in a coded message is so audacious that no one believes Andre. Whom can he convince? Who will have the courage to act before thousands of innocents are slaughtered? And is a miracle at Dunkirk Harbor possible?… (altro)

I love this series. It really captures the reign of terror in Nazi Germany and the effect on individuals from all walks of life. The books are well researched and historically accurate. You will find them hard to put down so make sure you have enough money to buy the whole series before you start! Recommended.. ( )

This story only covers a few months of the beginning battles of WWII but it is packed full of drama and suspense. It is I believe the last story in the Zion Covenant Series and I highly recommend you read these stories in the order in which they were written to get the full impact of each story. It is the Spring of 1940 and France is about to be invaded by Germany, who will show no mercy on who it kills. You will see bravery and courage as people rescue children and protect their country. This is not a romantic read, but a history lesson in fiction form where people face death and dying every day and still find the courage to carry on. As the authors stated at the end of the book, "Will evil always have the upper hand?. . . And how can we find the hope and courage to go on in the midst of seemingly overwhelming odds? What can one person do, if anything, to make a difference?" But the miracles come, even in the middle of war and God does not forsake, but is there with these folks as heartache is all around. I found myself overwhelmed at times to realize what people endured during this war and also extreme pride in seeing how people never gave up, but fought for what they believed in and fought also to protect the children during this horrible time. This latest book is as good as the earlier ones. Josie helps a German officer save a Jewish baby who he has rescued from Poland, while Andre rescues his daughter from Belgium just before the Nazi invasion. Josie, with the help of other refugees, evenually is able to transport both children to England. In the meantime, Mac continues to film the end of the Phoney War and the beginnings of an all too real war; and Paul Chadron's cadets fight valiantly against the Nazis, giving the Allied Forces a chance to escape across the English Channel from Dunkirk. A subplot involves orphaned children who must also escape Paris. ( )
