I think I would have liked this series... if they didn't constantly talk about how every single great figure in human history was actually one of these aliens. I started rolling my eyes every time they mentioned another one. It was getting pretty tedious. Surely, at least ONE influential person in the entire length of history could have actually been great because of their own genius or abilities? ( ) I Did Not Finish (DNF) this one. I started it right after finishing the first book, which I enjoyed. It did require some wading through fine details, weapons, preparation, etc. Okay, setting up a trilogy, I get it. This one started with a lot of details, and got worse. I'm fine with following plot, but I am less and less patient with loads of fine detail the story doesn't need. I guess I'm becoming more of a campfire story person than a thick tome type. I am far more interested in 'why' than in 'how.' Take that as you will. Took me a little bit to realise the second book was out. So how good is it? Well it is a different story, maybe a bit darker, but the fact that I picked it up less than 24 hours ago and I have finished it has to be some sort of indication. Great cliffhanger ending, which reminds me of the left hanging feeling I used to get with the original TV series of Stargate. I don't really have much to say about this book. Except that it's awesome. I wonder if the author got some inspiration from a race called Trill from the Star Trek universe. A book full of action, a brilliant explanation of the world's history and humor. My only regret is that I'm going to have to wait for the next Tao book.I was more than a little shell shocked when I reached the end of this book! And there better be many more books in the future... :) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

The sequel to "The Lives of Tao." The Prophus and the Genjix are at war. For centuries they have sought a way off-planet, guiding humanity's social and technological development to the stage where space travel is possible. The end is now in sight, and both factions have plans to leave the Earth, but the Genjix method will mean the destruction of the human race. That's a price they're willing to pay. It's up to Roen and Tao to save the world. Oh, dear... " File Under" Science Fiction [ Manning Up - A Long Journey - Bye-Bye Mankind - Personal Space.
