Never Forgotten You di Marie Cauley (JenniferRobb)
JenniferRobb: Both have a main character who is a musician and who questions what the true meaning of success is. Both have a romance angle.

The first book in the Carolina moon series sees country musician Daleigh back home for her father's funeral. However, when she reads her dad's journal she begins to have doubts about whether her dad's death really was a tragic accident. Another great book by Christy Barritt ( )

Genre is Christian Romantic Suspense, and it mostly lives up to that. I'd say there was a bit more emphasis on the romance than the suspense.

I appreciated being able to read Daleigh's thoughts as she struggled with questions like "what is success?" and whether she wanted to return to the life of a Nashville singer/songwriter/musician. It's a good springboard for a discussion on the question of whether success for a Christian is the same as the world's definition of success. It's sad that it took her father's death to bring her to that point. Also interesting was the dichotomy between the Nashville world, where people seemed to want Daleigh for what she could do for them, and the Hertford world, where people were more likely to ask what they could do for Daleigh.

I guessed that the culprit would be one of the people Daleigh considered as her father's friends but I wasn't sure which one it would be. I was glad to see that it wasn't Ryan, the love interest. Speaking of Ryan, he does seem to be a little too perfect a character. His one flaw seems to be that he fears repeating the error of taking the woman he loves away from what he thinks she wants--as he did with his late wife. ( )
