OK. Let me say this up front. Brett Battles' Jonathan Quinn series is one of my favorite current thriller series. The books are, in a word, terrific. If you like thrillers, do yourself a favor and find the Quinn books. But please, whatever you do, read them in order!

Anyway, The Enraged was one of the best books in the series to date. It had virtually all of the elements that I've come to really enjoy in the Quinn novels, both with regard to characters (and continued character development) and with regard to intricate plot and planning. Sure, I could quibble here and there with some things, but Battles does a great job of going right up to the "over the top" line in a few instances without going overboard into the land of eye rolls. Rather, he manages to build suspense that lets the plot just carry the reader away.

(I should also mention that Battles is one of those authors who makes himself available via social media and seems to really enjoy discussing his books with readers. For me, at least, that makes reading his books that much more entertaining.) ( )
