Pretty good. Could be a movie ( )

The writing duo of Meg Howrey and Christina Lynch are back with another fantasy novel, switching the main story to another amazing central European city, Vienna. Dr. Sarah Weston is now trying to save her young piano prodigy friend, Pollina seeking the help of a Viennese doctor, Bettina Muller. Muller disappears, but promises to help Pollina, if Sarah Weston helps her. Sarah is quickly dragged into a big mystery involving Austrian gentry, a transgender, historical figures, time travel, killings, with her friends Nico and ex-lover Max returning to assist. My favorite line: "Constantly enjoy life! You're longer dead than alive!" ( )

It got a little weird at the end but I like the characters. ( )

If on the other hand, you think that 400 year old dwarves, British pop historians, Czech princes raised in America, and Vienna ought not all be tossed into the same novel, this book is definitely not for you.

I looooved City of Dark Magic and so was very excited to read this sequel. While I enjoyed it tremendously I felt it a bit predictable and cheesy.

Coincidentally, I just finished reading Shadow of Night (Book 2 of the All Souls Trilogy). I found it very interesting that both it and City of Lost Dreams involved Prague, Edward Kelley, John Dee, Emperor Rudolf and a much needed book with mystical properties. ( )
