Collins is the poet of the quotidian - no other poet can lyricize journal entries about sitting and watching like he can. This collection made up of his best from several other collections with a section of new material is imminently readable. There are laughs along the way, as Collins comments on the world and people around him. There are aching passages that cut to the very quick of the human condition. If you're a poetry reader, you should be reading Collins.

Many gems in this collection. No one can compose a poem like Collins. One of the best Hanukkah gifts ever. ( )

The last 50 are new, the others you may already have. It's hard to write poetry in volume, so this is one way to sell it. Collins' poetry is very accessible and often humorous, but, as others have said, there may be an underlying darkness. Overall, it is superb, and this collection would be a nice place to start. I found an autographed copy at Books & Books in Coral Gables. ( )

I enjoy the poetry of Billy Collins but listening to his voice reading them is a distraction. He does not have the voice of a poet. ( )

Collins has this ability to take the mundane and make it marvelous. He does so here with as much skill as ever. ( )
