The town of St. Caroline had never felt like home to Sterling Matthew. Even though the Matthew family could date their residence back nearly a hundred years, Sterling had grown up in boarding schools-and promptly decamped for the ski slopes of Europe after college. When his father falls ill, his mother calls him home to run the family business, the renowned Chesapeake Inn. What Sterling finds, though, is a business on shaky financial footing and a staff resistant to the radical changes he has to make. No matter. He'll do what needs to be done . . . and then leave St. Caroline for good. For years, Lucy Wyndham wondered whether she'd ever catch another glimpse of the boy she'd crushed on at the Chesapeake Inn's summer camp for disadvantaged kids. He'd been tall and quiet. Mysterious and aloof. And the owner's son. Now he's her boss and the attraction is just as strong-but they're no more compatible today than they were as teenagers. When he informs her that the camp must be eliminated to improve the resort's bottom line, she embarks on an ambitious campaign to save it. Even if the price is her job . . . and her heart. Contains mature themes.… (altro)

Received from Netgalley in exchange for a review.

Lucy Wyndham returns from holiday early when she hears her boss, surrogate father and mentor is terminally ill. She has worked at the Chesapeake Inn for 5 years as Marketing Director, and has never seen the boy she lost her virginity to 15 years before when she was a gawky camp visitor.

Suddenly, Sterling is back and running the show, having been pulled back by his mother threatening to disinherit him if he doesn’t. Lucy hopes he doesn’t remember her, and at first it seems so – until an accidental use of her old nickname makes the truth slip out.

The hotel is in financial straits and Sterling insists on various changes – including shutting down the kids camp so that the land can be used more profitably. Lucy knows how much the camp helps disadvantaged kids, and how many people have become successful after having their lives turned around at the camp. The two are at loggerheads, and both decide to seduce the other into changing their minds. Despite the great sex, nothing changes, and Sterling fires Lucy, only to regret his decision!

This is a decent and enjoyable variation on a theme and I stayed up late into the evening finishing it. The sex is occasional, and fades to black before it gets too explicit. The secondary characters are few but more than one dimensional when they appear – a couple of them have the potential to be worked into their own story. Lucy’s home town in Virginia is described in appropriately appalling terms, and you get to feel sympathy for Sterling, who, despite being from a wealthy family, doesn’t fit in with the camp kids, and is brought up by the hotel staff rather than his workaholic parents, so had a very lonely childhood. It's always an inspiring experience to revisit a novel. Especially when the story is one by author Julia Gabriel. She can take a reader on a journey to some of the most beautiful locations in the world while breaking their hearts and giving them hope along the way. Summer Again is a story of redemption and second chances that spans from a teenage crush to an adult attraction. Sterling has struggled with feelings of inadequacy his whole life. His family had money and history but seemed to lack time and heart, at least in his case. Lucy lost her heart to the brooding owner's son years ago, will she lose even more this time around? I love this author because she proves sweet can be irresistible.

This was a great novel. I enjoyed the story and was pulled in from the very first page. The only part that was a little representative was when the author would speak of Derrick the first couple of times, their was always a sentence telling who he was. We learned Derrick was a reporter and were told a couple more times that he was. This was a very minor thing, but it can cause the reader to lose their flow of reading. There were also minor grammatical errors only a few. But overall this is a great story with relatable characters. ( )

I really enjoyed diving in to this romance novel. I couldn't put it down. I love the New England setting of the book and liked the independent, but still hesitant character of Lucy. Great for a cozy day of reading and relaxation. ( )

This is a sweet story about two people given a second chance at love ... a nicely satisfying read that leaves the reader craving some cupcakes!

Yummy romance ... delightfully written, this carefree book was a wonderful weekend read.
