Fantasy. Fiction. Romance. HTML:WHERE DARK LYCAN ENDED, DARK WOLF BEGINS...
BOOK NUMBER 25 IN CHRISTINE FEEHAN'S ACCLAIMED CARPATHIAN SERIES
#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan now delivers her most eagerly awaited novel of all—ten years in the making—in the “the erotic, gripping series that has defined an entire genre” (J. R. Ward).
In Dark Lycan, Christine Feehan journeyed into the heart of the Carpathians, and into the souls of two lifemates stirred by the flush of passion and the threat of annihilation. In Dark Wolf, the breathtaking story continues as the bonds of family are imperiled, and the fate of two lovers lies hidden in the seductive shadows between life and death.
Skyler Daratrazanoff always recognized the miracle that was Dimitri Tirunul, a man beyond any dream that had ever engaged her nights. But she was human. Vulnerable. He was Carpathian. Nearly immortal. She was nineteen. He was an ancient. Yet she held half his soul, the light to his darkness. Without her, he would not survive. Caught between the two warring species, Dimitri has spent centuries hunting the undead to keep his people free, and humans safe. He had survived honorably when others had chosen to give up their souls. But now, marked for extermination by the Lycans, Dimitri found himself alone, and fearing for his life. But salvation was coming…
No Lycan would ever suspect someone like Skyler to dare mount a secret rescue operation. A teenage girl. A human of untested abilities. But she had something no one else had. She was predestined for Dimitri—as he was for her. And there was nothing stronger for Skyler than her desire to see her life-dream come true. Whatever the risk.

In the twenty-second book of the Dark/Carpathian series, Skyler Daratranzanoff enlists her two best friends, Josef and Paul, to help her track down and rescue her missing lifemate, Dimitri. The Lycans captured him two weeks earlier, and no one—not her adopted parents or the prince of the Carpathian people—are keeping her informed of the situation. Desperate to save him, she and her friends go to Russia and run afoul of a dangerous military-trained Lycan pack.
Dimitri Tirunul is more than just an ancient Carpathian warrior. After centuries of sharing blood with his half-Lycan/half-Carpathian brother Fen, he now has Lycan blood running through his body. The Lycan species calls mixed bloods Sange rau and the fanatics want to kill them all, so they kidnapped and tortured Dimitri. Meanwhile, the Lycan council is visiting Mikhail, the prince, in hopes of establishing an alliance between the two species.
Like most fans of the series, I’ve been looking forward to this story for years, ever since Dark Celebration came out. Dimitri and Skyler have been lifemates for the past three years, but he hasn’t claimed her in the way of his people. After all, she was only 16 when they met, but she’s grown up a lot in the past few years. She had suffered much physical, emotional, and sexual abuse as a child, so she wasn’t ready for a relationship with a man. Dimitri understood that and gave her time, all the while getting to know her and becoming friends. Even though he risked his life and soul to give her time, he remained honorable and put her needs before his own, as all Carpathian males should do with their lifemates.
Dimitri is an amazing person and respects Skyler for who she is. He’s not controlling, insanely jealous, or demanding as some other heroes are in this series. He accepts her male friends and considers them his friends, which few Carpathian warriors are capable of doing for their women.
Skyler wants to move past her trauma, but feels she’ll never be strong enough or good enough for Dimitri. Despite her doubts, she’s a powerful healer and psychic, and the perfect match for her mate.
I loved all the scenes with Skyler, Josef, and Paul. Even though they goof off and play, and the elder Carpathians consider them children, they’re really adults and powerful in their own right. Josef is especially wonderful, but feels unwanted, expendable, and a burden to his family. Luckily, he realizes how wrong he is.
I definitely enjoyed the scenes with Skyler and her birth father Razvan. She’s kept her distance from him, but she’s finally reaching out, wanting to get to know him.
There are a few inconsistencies. Skyler and Razvan are Xavier’s great granddaughter and grandson respectively, but twice throughout the book they are called his granddaughter and son. Also, Paul’s last name is Chevez (his father’s name), not Jansen (his mother’s maiden name), so why is Paul suddenly going by his mom’s name?
I enjoyed the story, but I had to reread parts of it to figure out what was going on and who was talking or thinking because of all the head hopping. The narrative is repetitive and there are lots of lengthy chants and rituals, which I skimmed over. Zev and Bronnie’s story is next, so stay tuned for that review.

~ 5 Dark Wolf Stars ~

There is not much I can say about [a:Christine Feehan|6268|Christine Feehan|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1213843688p2/6268.jpg] and her Carpathians. Fans will not want to miss reading Skyler and Dimitri's story, my god, it's been a long time coming. Those who have not picked up this series yet need too it's amazing and worth the read. Feeham has a way with words, world building and character integration. We get hot alpha Carpathians, humans with psychic gifts, lots of action and well written sex scenes.

I have been so excited for Dimitri and Skyler’s story every since they meet in [b:Dark Celebration|64028|Dark Celebration (Dark, #17)|Christine Feehan|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1388891881s/64028.jpg|2612567]. Feehan did not disappoint! Skyler has grown into a women who accepts her Mage side as well as her Dragonseeker heritage. Everything about this book was outstanding! The relationship that Skyler and Dimitri have is so different from the other books. It’s special and magnificent. We know how very Alpha all the Carpathian males can be, but Dimitri does not let it take control. Dimitiri is caring, sweet, and patient with Skyler. He understands her and her fears. Their first real kiss was sweet and their love making was just that love making.

The action in this book was fantastic! I like the development in the plot and I really like the direction this series is going. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Where "Dark Laycan" ended, "Dark Wolf" begins. Dmitri is in the custody of the Lycans and is being tortured for being a mixed blood. None of the Carpathians can find him. In fact, Skyler doesn’t even think they are looking. So she teams us with her friends Josef and Paul for a rescue mission.

Get ready to be sucked into a world of magic, loyalty and a love to last a lifetime or two! This is the most anticipated story in Christine Feehan's Dark series. I was not disappointed. I loved watching Skyler and Dimitri's story grow over the years while I read other Carpathian stories. Christine Feehan did an amazing job bringing their story to life.

Watch for "Dark Blood" in September of 2014 to find out more of Zev's story. ( )

All her life she's known the ancient vampire hero was destined to be her mate. This was a fact of life and it never frightened her and she never fought her destiny. But she was too young to be anyone's mate so he denied himself the all consuming urge to claim her until she was ready. Now, at age 19. The heroine is greatly disturbed by the fact that he's been silence from contacting her for week now. She knows the something has happened to him and so she devises a plan to save the man she loves. He's being held prisoner by the Lycans. He's been injected with silver and it's slowly killing him. He lives every day is excruciating pain, hung from a tree with silver hooks that she eating away at his flesh. He's avoided contact with the heroine as he knows she'll attempt to save him but regardless, she's already set her plan into motion. She begins healing him from as far. Ridding his body of the silver and using her magically gifts from nature to break the chains binding him and helping him escape. On the run, they receive help from her two friends but in the action the heroine dies. In his desperation to save her, the hero much bring back her soul from the land of the dead and restore it in her body. I've given you a plot line of the entire book and honesty it a rather pitiful. The entire book felt the climax of a better book. The characters are already in love- so no emotional development there. The entire freaking book is based around maybe a week's timeline at best and it's entirely about the heroine helping the hero escape. And then there's some chapters about having the heroine welcoming her sexuality. Nothing of any significance happened. It was your typically run of the mill Feehan Dark book. Lots of angsty mushy obsessive love affairs with the characters talking themselves in circles about 'lifemate' this and 'lifemate' that. Such grand love proclamations that just keep spewing out the characters mouths and all it makes me want to do is roll my eyes. It's just too much. I would enjoy it ten times better if only it was toned down just a little. If the hero was just a little bit more realistic and 'human' let's say, I could relate to him a bit more. He's just a carbon copy of every only single freaking hero in the series! I liked the heroine. She was smart and brave enough to rescue her love and did it was grace. Even though she's only 19, she was by far the most interesting female character in the series. I admired her wit and selflessness in the face of all the danger around her. Honestly, I skipped a few pages here and there because it dragged it's butt with using scenes and I don't plan on reading it again any time soon. But I liked the heroine enough to give it a 2 star rating. ( )

Tiny silver threads, so deadly and bright,
I call upon the earth to steal your might,
As you were created, I shall undo.
I call on your makers and take on your hue.
(Page 30)

That which was created shall now become mine,
Chlorine, sulfur, antimony and arsenic I bind.
Chlorine that holds the color of green and gold,
I take on your energy and now so do I hold.
(page 30)

Sulfur, oh brimstone with life-giving gifts,
I breathe in your essence and take of your gifts,
Antimony, sweet metal, I take on your shine,
An weave now a barrier that none may unbind,
(page 30)

Arsenic sweet arsenic so lethal and gray,
I call on your power to shift poison away.
Silver I touch, silver I wind,
Silver I release back to your source.

Hooks of silver, curved and sharp,
Inserted in flesh to poison the heart,
Iced brimstone and fire I call you now forth.
Come out and heat this evil source.
