I lked this book. This the first one I have read in the series and will certainly be starting again with book 1. The main character Anne Marshall is a law student who is haunted by her father in a good way! They work together to solve mysteries. In this book Anne and her fiancee Jason are in Florida visiting his parents when his father discovers the body of a friend of theirs. Anne can't help but investigate and be a little intrigued by the detective who is in charge. Makes you wonder if Jason and Anne are meant to last, certainly seem to be more sparks with the detective. A great whodunnit!

"Two sudden deaths, half a country apart. Will Anne Marshall discover the truth before it's too late?"

This is actually the 3rd in the series of Anne Marshall and my 1st but not my last. The story pulls you in from the very first page to the end. It is a great mystery, paranormal (her father is dead and comes back as a ghost to help her solve crimes)read. I loved all the characters but I wish Anne's father were in it a little more. I also liked the fact that Anne and Jason (Anne's fiance) genuinely like their parents and didn't come from dysfunctional homes, refreshing for a change. I don't really get a feeling for Anne and Jason as a couple, they read too stale for a relationship. No wonder Anne fell for the detective in the story. Personally I was rooting for the detective because they just seemed a better fit. I will be looking for the first two books and hope for many more to come in this series. I do agree that it could have benefited from better proof reading but the story and characters were excellent so I am giving it 5 stars. I received this book from LibraryThing Early Reviewers and I recommend it. ( )

This is the first book I've read involving this character so perhaps some of my issues were addressed in those earlier books - That being said I found the idea of the story quite interesting. Girl and her father's ghost solve crimes. The execution of the story was not something I enjoyed. Anne is engaged to Jason but there is no depth to their relationship so when she started giving personal insight to her attraction to the policeman - I really didn't care what it did to her engagement. I couldn't figure out why they were a couple. She was pushy, rude and immature. I thought for someone who wants to go up against a jury and fight for justice she should really not be stomping her foot everytime somone pointed out she was being pushy, rude and immature.

The "crime" was really just out there - I am all for the super natural / scifi part of things but it was just didn't make sense.

The transition in thoughts and chapters/characters was very choppy - just when it started to develop a flow it immediately cut to something else. ( )

Interesting story. Always enjoy the supernatural element of ghosts interacting with characters in the story. It took me a while to get into the book, but then I couldn't put it down, waiting to find out the resolution. ( )

This was a decent book. It was very entertaining and the story line was somewhat new and different. I read the book right before this in the series so I wouldn't be totally lost, but this book works as a stand alone. References to past books are extremely vague and short.

I do wish the author would use more contractions. I've said in other reviews that unless you are a Quaker, etc. or lying - you use contractions in your speech. To read a book with normal, every day people as characters who don't use contractions makes it stilted, stiff, hard to read or connect to the characters......you get the picture.

The plot could be thicker so it wasn't quite so easy to solve but it was still entertaining and I enjoyed it. ( )
