This was one of my favorite books yet because it teaches the value of hard work. This book was all about how Curious George decided that he wanted a red train but did not have the money to get the train. So he worked hard to earn the money buy doing things like distributing flyers and washing windows. This book can be used for teaching the importance for earning and working hard for what you want in life. ( )

Curious George saves his pennies is a modern fantasy. The main idea of this book was to show how saving money and doing the right thing is best. I liked this book for three main reasons. The story line is perfect for any child. It teaches them about saving money and the reward of saving it. George the monkey was able to buy him and the girl a toy train with the money he saved. That leads to my second reasons, the moral behind the story. The main idea was about saving money but it pushed the reader at the end to think about what they would have done in Hana position. She found Georges piggy bank but instead of keeping for herself she tried to return it to the owner then went to the store when he didn’t show up. George rewarded her for what she did. A person isn’t always rewarded but it reinforces the right thing to do. Lastly, I enjoyed this book for its illustrations. They were simple but still help the story come to life. Each image had George doing something that pertained to what he want, the toy train, and was doing to earn it. This helped the story move along and for any child that isn't the strongest reader understand by the illustrations. ( )
