When different animals have different beliefs of what the moon really as, they came together and asked a scientist. Unsatisfied with the answer, they all went on believing the moon was how they perceived. This book could be used to discuss the moon and astronomy. I Know the Moon is the story of different animals fighting over what the moon is. They eventually go to the scientist and he tells them the answer is final and found in a book. All of the animals disagree and decide that the moon is different for each individual, and that is okay. ( )

Each animal has their own view of what they think the moon is, and when they don't agree they ask a scientist who discourages them, but on their way back to the forest they each go back to believing their own story. This is a good book to use to explain what the moon could be and have the students use their imaginations to make up their own story about what the moon is. It is also fitting to use when talking about different animals in nature. ( )

I thought this book was pretty nice, well written with some beautiful illustrations. All the animals that come out at night (the fox, mouse, owl, frog, and moth) each have their own idea of what the moon is, and they each think that they alone are right. Instead of fighting they go to ask the man of science who lives up on the hill, surely he will know what the moon really is, the animals reason. When the man tells the animals that the moon is nothing more than sand and dust, they leave feeling disappointed. Back in the forest they still all disagree on what the moon is, but they all agree that it must be more than dust and sand. This book tells of the wonders of imagination and how everyone can look at the same thing and see something different based on who they are as a person (or animal). Definitely a cute book to get student to open up about what they think of something. ( )

Everyone in this story seems to think they know the moon the best. This is a great poetic book that is clever yet easy to understand. ( )
