There's a difference between sensitive and fussy.  This book doesn't see it.  I empathize with the Princess, but not with Rosebud.  I think the girl was doomed the moment her parents named her Rosebud.  And it's not going to help Rosebud learn coping skills if they don't give her an annoying but lovable sibling.... I feel badly about this review because I really liked Harriet Ziefert's Posey books. They are checked out all the time at the library where I work and my neighbor's 4 year old loved them. The illustrations in this book are great and the fold outs are really cool but I didn't like the story. I like the story of the Princess and the Pea but this seemed to take it the step further down that slippery slope to "high maintenance =Princess" and maybe it does but I just didn't like it. Loved the Posey books though! ( )
