One of America's greatest military aviation historians relates the astonishing--and true--story of the only American warplane to fight in every operational theater in World War II from Pearl Harbor to Alaska and North Africa to Northern Europe I had read Caidin's stuff when I was a teenager but nothing recently. I'd forgotten what an entertaining writer he is. Whether describing an airbattle or the technical specifications of a fighter, he makes it interesting. While the intent of the book is correct the many negative myths surounding the P-38, Caidin is fair and candid about the plane's early failings. He includes many battle sequences that he garnered from interviews, letters and offical Air Force documents. The one complaint I have is there are no photos of the plane or the important people who designed, flew and repaired it. Martin Caidin was a flyer whose many accomplishments in aviation and writing are too many to mention here. Check him out on Wikipedia. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
