Maggie Mahoney is a partner in a top Wall Street firm.
When she returns to work after her husband was killed in a skiing accident, there is a void at the office. A senior partner asks her to look into the Gender Equity Committee for the treatment of women in the firm. What makes this suspect to Maggie is that the partner has political ambitions and seems to white wash any problems in the firm, additionally, the chair of the committee is a known sexist.
As Maggie speaks to more women at the firm concerning their treatment, she learns that horrendous things are happening, some, beyond comprehension.
She brings her concerns tot he senior partner and something wrong happens. However, she's the wrong person to make an enemy of and gets the evidence needed to show the truth of what goes on in her firm.
Her final confrontation with the senior partner is very satisfying. ( )
