When the Cat in the Hat returns to visit Sally and Dick, he’s riding on a brachiosaurus. He takes the children back millions of years in time to show them the creation of fossils. Then, visiting the Super Dino Museum, the children learn some interesting facts as well as the proper pronunciation of each dinosaur’s name. And do you know the name of the earliest cat dinosaur? ========= Part of the Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library, this book introduces beginning readers to basic concepts about the world around them. Helping develop foundational knowledge upon which the young reader can eventually build complex ideas and facts, the book shows young readers that educational books can also be very entertaining. Guided by the venerable Cat in the Hat, the rhyming narrative provides basic information about dinosaurs. Also included are a Glossary and a For Further Reading bibliography. Young readers interested in science and/or dinosaurs are sure to be delighted with this book that exemplifies the slogan of the series: Learn to Read. Read to Learn. Highly recommended. Oh say can you can Di-No-Saur? Is a wonderful book! Throughout this book, it explains a lot about dinosaurs, from how we know they existed to how dinosaurs end up in museums. After the dinosaurs are in the museum, The Cat in the Hat then describes a couple dinosaurs, with how to pronounce their name, and characteristics about each of them. I enjoyed this book because of the of the easy explanations and the extra call outs. On each page about a new dinosaur, there is an easy explanation on how to say the specific dinosaur’s name. For example, the first dinosaur breaks the name down to explain it as “ANG- kih- luh- saw- rus”. This is great to help the younger readers who want to know about these dinosaurs! I also enjoyed the call outs that helped go into more detail for the readers that wanted to know more. For example, the call out on the Tyrannosaurus Rex page explains that they were carnivores and then also goes on to explain what a carnivore is. I believe the main message of this book is to inform children about different types of dinosaurs and how we know about them. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I find the non-Seuss Cat in the Hat series books to be pretty eyeroll-worthy, but I did appreciate the rhymes here being used to teach pronunciation of dinosaur names. Definitely helps me with pronouncing them when I read other dinosaur books out loud. ( )
