Rufus goes unwillingly to visit his grandmother in the woods. While there, he discovers the woods have a lot more to offer than he thought! He accidentally turns himself into a sasquatch with magic totem. This is the introduction into the Bigfoot Boy series.

Really disappointed with this. What a missed opportunity for using Sasquatch as an entry into woods lore, or for a city boy to gain an appreciation for the natural environment. Sasquatch is treated as a superhero having some silly conflict with wolves who want to steal his powers. It's simplistic to treat wolves as greedy bad guys. There's also a missed opportunity for an interesting relationship between the boy and girl characters. I feel that the author is writing down to kids, not respecting their ability to grasp anything more subtle than violence. ( )

Rufus is bo-o-o-ored at his grammy's house in the country. But when he follows a girl into the woods and finds a totem in a hollowed-out tree, things become a whole lot more interesting. Especially when he reads the word etched into the magical talisman: "Sasquatch." ( )
