The feel of a cautionary tale. Live a good life, be kind to others, and don't screw people over. It will come back and bite you. Possibly in a creepy King manner. ( ) Stephen King has a true talent when it comes to writing that he can make an ordinary story about a man seeing dead people on the telly (I see dead people! lol) and making it really entertaining. This isn't a great story, but it's good, really good. An easy read for an evening when you feel like reading something short and good. “Look at me,” Evers said. “I’m on TV, therefore I exist.” ― Stephen King, A Face in the Crowd This was a creepy little read. I'd been wanting to check this one out for a long time but did not have an E reader. Luckily that has changed. So I was pulled in immediately. And this is the type of King that I love..eerie rather then gory or outright in your face scary. I kind of felt like I was watching an episode of the twilight zone. Remember that wonderful show? I loved it as a kid. Used to watch it all the time. And this was like going back in time. So the story, short as it was, was really interesting. And intense. I have no quibbles with it but I guess I really wish it had been even 10 or 20 pages longer. It is really kind of over in the blink of an eye. I wanted more "Twilight Zone" effect. But as short as it was it really leaves a mark. I will not be forgetting this anytime soon. I am not, nor will I ever be, a Baseball fan but I really do not think you have to be to get into this story. I LOVED the premise. And it is awesome that such a short book could be that thought provoking AND be so rich in atmosphere and have such wonderful characterizations. I mean..the whole thing is like only 30 pages! But it was a fun read. Recommended to those who like eerie little stories. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"Dean Evers, an elderly widower, sits in front of the television with nothing better to do than waste his leftover evenings watching baseball. It's Rays/Mariners, and David Price is breezing through the line-up. Suddenly, in a seat a few rows up beyond the batter, Evers sees the face of someone from decades past, someone who shouldn't be at the ballgame, shouldn't be on the planet. And so begins a parade of people from Evers's past, all of them occupying that seat behind home plate. Until one day Dean Evers sees someone even eerier"--Container.
