Adam James is so far in the closet he could find Narnia. As an attorney for the homophobic WMA Development, he can't come out without risking the million-dollar paycheck waiting for him once they push their big land development deal through the city council-money that will finally allow Adam to live according to his own terms. Then, on an early morning scuba dive, Adam meets a tall, lean rebreather diver named Sky who makes him want to hug a tree. Sky Sea Mickeljohn stands for the environment, world peace, and being openly gay. He won't compromise his principles for anyone-even the damned lying developer lawyer he can't help lusting after. True, the WMA land development deal could put thousands of people at risk, but Sky still wants to risk his heart. In the fight between freedom and integrity, is there a place for love?… (altro)

Adam James, alias ‘James Adamson,’ is deeply in the closet. He’s in so deep that he takes weekend vacations at his friend Carly’s where other in the closet businessmen go to have sex without worrying about anyone knowing their true names. On one of Adam’s vacations to Carly’s as ‘James,’ Adam meets an underwater diver named Sky. So taken by Sky, Adam invites him back to Carly’s place for cocktails that evening and that is followed by some of the hottest sex Adam has ever had. Adam can’t explain the sudden change he feels when Sky leaves the next morning. Life is brighter and Adam even starts to contemplate coming out. Adam is working as the lead attorney for WMA Development on a very expensive remediation beach project and he’ll be making a presentation in front of the town council and the citizens. The opposition has an ace up their sleeve and his name is Dr. Sky Sea Mickeljohn, Adam’s Sky. Adam is in total shock and emotionally wrecked. He wants to meet with Sky and discuss a compromise, but Sky has closed his heart to any emotions accept hate and anger toward Adam. All Sky sees is a developer, not the kind, friendly man he had the most amazing sex and connection with over the weekend.

I really liked how the author wrote Adam’s character. I could easily feel his desire and passion for Sky and his anguish over their separation. However Sky, was more difficult to get to know. His voice seemed withdrawn and a bit flat, but this could be part of the author’s plan to convey the type of temperament that Sky had, guarded and walled-off. I would have expected Adam’s character’s personality to be the rigid, hard-nosed developer and Sky the kind-hearted environmentalist. Instead the author switched the personalities around. We have Adam as the likeable character who is willing to look at things from all angles and make compromises. He’s the one that reaches out to Sky on numerous occasions to try and make their relationship work. Then there is Sky, the environmentalist who gets along better with fish than with people and is fueled by his hatred of developers.

Some of the characters from Fire Balls show up in this book as friends of Sky. There is Jerry, the firefighter and surfer, Roman, aka Rodney the artist and his partner Hunter, who’d been a fireman but was now a teacher. I enjoyed seeing the character tie in from the other book and look forward to them appearing again in the other books in the Balls to the Wall series.

There was one image that really was difficult for me to believe. That was the fact that both Adam’s and Sky’s cocks were rather… huge. In fact it was conveyed that they were more than huge. I believe Adam’s was eight inches long and Sky’s even longer. I realize this story is fiction, but their cock size made me laugh, it was just too much. Even if their cocks are big, it’d be nice if they were in the realistic large size range. The sex was hot and steamy, especially the underwater and kayak encounters.

I’ve never been scuba diving, but the author did a great job of conveying what it would be like underwater and the unique equipment that Sky used like the rebreathers.

Beach Balls was easy to read and I found it quite enjoyable. Adam was my favorite character with his willingness to compromise and his caring. Jerry was my second favorite character. Sky’s personality was rather bland except toward the very end. I had to suspend my belief on the size of Adam’s and Sky’s ‘equipment’ because it was just too funny. The sex was hot and passionate. I’d read this book again and give it 4 stars

Adam is in the closet. He doesn't see any way to really come out without ruining his relationship with his family and without losing clients in his law practice. He goes away for the weekend to a party designed to have anonymous sex but ends up meeting Sky when he is out in the ocean. The two seem like opposites, but their attraction is immediate and strong. They find a way to stay in touch, and Adam begins to wonder what it would be like to be with Sky in the real world. There is some drama that causes them to be apart briefly, but fortunately the angst is not strong and the guys work things out well. I do wish it was a bit more robust in what the resolution to work issues was a contract with the horrible work associates was referenced but did he take it? Did they treat him horribly? I would've like to know a little more after all of the homophobia throughout.. Overall, though, great story and characters. I'm interested in reading about the others in this series. ( )
