Yoko Learns to Read is a book that is part of the Yoko Book series. Yoko's mom was born in Japan and she doesn't speak much english. Yoko doesn't speak much english either but she decides to take the initiative to find the keys to reading. She works really hard and ends up putting leaves on the reading tree for her class.

Yoko learns to read a book. She reads to her mother who does not read well herself. Yoko inspires her mother to learn how to read.
