And while Elizabeth finds him attractive he fails to take no for an answer regularly, which made me very annoyed with the book. There's also gratuous mention of Allergies and viruses. The concept of allergies was introduced in 1906, not in Regency England and while the word virus was known in that period a lay person like Elizabeth wouldn't have used it and it's doubtful that the doctor would have either. Btween these two issues my suspension of disbelief was broken and the story lost my sympathy. ( )
