"But what about Leon?" Now, in this new story that bridges the gap between Birthmarked and Prized, Caragh M. It was a choice he had happily made, his life for hers, his freedom for hers. But now she was out there somewhere, battling the wastelands with precious few supplies and a baby to care for. The chances for survival were slim, but his own survival was not so great either. Punished and tortured for his part in Gaia's escape with the records, he was in no position, or fit state, to go after her. But when given the opportunity there was no way he would let it slip through his fingers. He had cared more for her then he realized and he could only hope that he would find her and when he did that she might care for him in return.

Tortured may only be as long as a chapter but the story contained within answers the questions of what happened to those left behind after Gaia left the Enclave, Wharfton, her friends and Leon behind. Having ensured Gaia's escape, watching her leave with her sister, Leon is now, finally, after so much torture free to follow her, that is if she has survived the harshness of the wilderness. As a stepping stone from Birthmarked to Prized it does well to tie up the lose ends. Written from Leon's point of view if offers fresh perspective on what has transpired and what may yet occur. A must read for those reading this series. ( )

I call them half books, this one is called a bridge, between book 1 and book 2. I love reading these because I feel like I get inside the head of other characters in the books. This one is no exception. You really get attached to Leon in this. ( )

I was very lucky to discover that there was a book in between book 1 Birthmarked and 2 Prized.Well not a book exact but a story. I had just started book 2 Prized (And I love that one by the way) when I noticed that this book was around.

This is a free Ebook which is also very nice. Most people read this after they'd read the first 2 books but I do think it is best if you read this after Birthmarked. It was a short story but it satisfied my curiosity a lot. A short story but with a lot of impact.
I am really enjoying this authors books. ( )

SPOILERS BELOW IF YOU HAVEN'T READ BIRTHMARKED YET

A short (and I do mean short - it took me about ten minutes to read, if that) bridge story between Birthmarked and Prized, this details what happened to Leon after he was captured and Gaia managed to escape. He was tortured (hence the name), and although I won't give away any spoilers for Tortured, considering there'll be no story if Leon doesn't manage to somehow escape so he can trail after Gaia, I'm sure you can guess what happens.

This doesn't add much to the storyline, to be honest. It could have been a chapter in Prized instead of something separate. Still, if you were waiting for Prized to come out and needed to get a fix from this universe, this would tide you over for a little while. ( )
