Angel is by far an actual angel. She is flawed main character who knows she is flawed, which is why I devoured this book. I love the way the author wrote the character. Angel is an uninhibited 17 yeard old who doesn't mind sleeping with multiple guys. She wants to get back with her ex, but he doesn't want to get back with her just because she feels like it at the moment. He loved her and wants her to be committed. We follow Angel through her summer escapades and into the school year. She doesn't know what she wants from life, she has an interesting family dynamic with a mother who doesn't know what she wants from life, yet Angel is very aware of herself and her actions. Since I'm from NJ and have worked in Seaside Heights, I loved all the references to The Heights, the boardwalk, and the bay. Very well done. Be aware there is a lot of sexual content for a YA book. ( )

Hard to like a girl with almost no redeeming qualities who is destined to become her sleep-around mother. Who let's their daughter live alone? Cheating, lying, shallowness. No character growth. Bad. ( )

Marketed for YA, but even I'd put it with adult. Way too much gratuitous and promiscuous sex and drug use. Also, not very well written. And the author's definition of "Benny" might be one definition, but it's not the one I hear from my Jersey shore in-laws. Will not be purchasing for my YA collection even though we're in Jersey. ( )
