This book teaches the reader all there is to know about butterflies. It talks about their migration, body parts, the stages of their life, and a comparison between butterflies and moths. If a child was learning about a species for a project and wanted to do butterflies, this book is all he or she would need. All of the important information is well explained and there is even a small glossary for words the children may not be familiar with. I would use this book in the classroom to teach the students about the stages of a butterflies life and compare that to the stages of a humans life. Butterflies by Seymour Simon is an informational text about Butterflies. It covers the monarch's migration to Mexico and southern California, the life span of butterflies, comparison between butterflies and months, the stages of butterflies life, their body types, the different types of families, and how to make a butterfly garden. I really liked this book because, it is informative but it doesn't feel like it because of the interesting facts as well as the beautiful photograph. This would be a great resource for a student who is writing a paper about butterflies or moths. Butterflies by Seymour Simon is a perfect book on butterflies for young students to learn about butterflies. It has a small glossary with words that are in the book that students can look up if they do not know. The index in the book provides a short description of each page, and if an entry is printed in bold letters it indicates an illustration. The history of the butterflies and moths is at the end of the book. Butterflies and Moths have been subject of stories. myths, poetry, art, drama, and dance in many cultures. Butterflies and Moths are becoming rare because the fields and meadows are disappearing. The photographs in the book are very colorful, beautiful, and informative. The book provides facts on Butterflies and Moths because they are so similar, but differences are given as well. The author provides a great description about the butterflies four stages of their life.
