I wasn't sure what to expect when I read that this book was comprised of three separate romances. I think I was expecting more of a traditional anthology but Leigh Michaels weaves the three stories seamlessly together such that all the heros and heroines seem like main characters. A great job was done of moving from story to storay but keeping the overarching timing moving along. I will definitely read this author again! THE WEDDING AFFAIR by Leigh Michaels is an exciting historical romance set in Regency England. It is written with depth, details, characters will capture your heart who are also engaging and full of spunk. The plot is believable, enjoyable with a little humor between characters. While, you are invited to the wedding of the year, you will find that behind the scenes, three heros, three heroines, and three romance stories are taking place. First, three Lady Olivia Reyne, the widow of a earl with a three year old child and Simon, the Duke of Somervale, whose sister's wedding and he is finding off the young debutantes of the ton. Then we have Kate Blakely, the daughter of a deceased vicar and Andrew Carlisle,a tutor and adventurer or so it seems. And then last but not least we have the Earl and Countess of Townsend(Charles and Penelope),Charles is an Earl who married a heiress, but seems to have little love for her,due to her father's demands for a grandchild or no money. This story has romance, a sweet sensuality,a bit of humor,a touch of for longing, some misunderstandings,a few secrets,a lot of wisdom and love. A must read full of passion, adventure and Regency England. "The Wedding Affair" is truly the wedding of the year the a story you won't want to miss. This book was received for review from the publisher.Details can be found at Sourcebooks,Inc.and My Book Addiction Reviews. I have heard wonderful things about Leigh Michaels so when I was offered Just One Season in London to review I decided to chance it. Talk about taking risks paying off. I fell in love with that book and was so excited to be given the opportunity to review The Wedding Affair. While not a 5 star read for me it did solidly place Leigh Michaels in my must read historical romance authors list. I loved all the characters but especially the Duke and Lady Reyne. The chemistry between the two sizzles whenever they are together and also just reading about both going about their daily tasks made me enjoy them even more. It was touching to see Simon spending time with Lady Reyne's daughter, Charlotte, for the sheer pleasure of it and being shocked that his actions could be viewed in a nefarious light. Lady Stone, a favorite of mine from the last book, makes another appearance here and keeps the humor going as she can make observations that only a high ranking, crochety old woman can make without censure. The romances between Kate and Andrew and Penelope and her husband were just as sweet but I really wish each duo had their own book dedicated to their story. It felt like both could have been developed so much more especially Penelope's story. The estrangement between her and her husband was brought up so abruptly that at first I wondered if she avoided him because he was abusive or a cad. Then we find out the real reason he keeps himself distant from Penelope and it seems childish yet understandable but then the resolution comes so suddenly that it made his feelings seem trivial and like someone who was having a temper tantrum. Still I did really enjoy this book and my main criticism was it would have been better as 3 books so we could have seen more of each couple. If you haven't read Leigh Michaels you should definitely pick up one of her books. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

First we have Olivia who after her husband's death is poor, and living with her daughter in a little cottage. She meets Simon, the Duke of Somervale and the first meeting is not a good one. But then by the look of her he does not think she is a lady either. But he has every young woman in the area after him and he comes up with the perfect plan. These two together, what to make of them really, I do like how they fell without knowing it. I liked Olivia and she did not have the best of marriages. Simon manages to get some fire out of her and Simon then, well he was not looking for something but is still falling. And I just loved how he was around her daughter.
Then we have Kate who is staying with Olivia since she has no where else to go after her father's death. She is being courted by the vicar, poor thing, cos he is, just think of Mr Collins. But she meets Andrew, who she had a crush on when she was younger.
Last we have what was actually my favorite storyline. At the wedding we meet Lady Penelope who is there with her husband. A crappy marriage it is, her father wanted a title for her and Charles needed money. Now he resents his wife and does not even look at her. It was just so sad because it was not Penny's fault. But she finds her own voice and because of that I loved the story. Because when these two start talking they really start talking. And it was about time.
All these stories take place during a wedding and since they are all at the same time the POVS jump around. It works great too and I was happy to see that more than one couple found love. Because they all truly deserved so.
Conclusion:
A lovely book that had me reading. And even though I liked one story more they were all good and together even better. I do find that I like Michael's voice. And there is nothing like a good wedding affair, romance and passion promised.
