Luke Pearson's latest comic book is, as the title suggests, a compendium of the things that we happen to miss when something else seemingly more important comes along. Luke Pearson, a recent graduate of Loughborough University, has contributed to a number of comic anthologies in the UK as well as self-publishing a number of small-run homemade comics. Lovely looking comic by Luke Pearson. A wry story of a failing relationship, which documents all the things that we don't see - the missed details and opportunities of life. In Pearson's hands these range from the mundane through the life-changing to the fantastical. Perhaps a trifle twee, maybe a bit slight, still it has a good amount of charm and is a handsome volume. Overall, a well-executed, but not essential, comic.

I'm not sure what I expected...a a meditation on the slow death of a relationship? A quiet, affecting look at how things die slowly when you're not looking? Maybe was was promised in the book description?

Everything We Miss is shorter than it should be, and digresses too much from what it purports to be about. Technically, yes, it does "explore the final days of a dying relationship through the infinitesimal unseen moments that surround it," but these unseen moments that surround it are nonsensical and irrelevant. Anthropodic creatures that love to watch humans and a re never seen is a great concept, but the do nothing for the plot or the meaning here, and that's but one example of things that seem to be thrown in for... I'm not even sure what. ( )

Based on the title alone I wanted to like this book, but I did not. I can honestly state that this book has charm and uniqueness for those that like a particular type of graphic novel that is subversive in nature. For me that was not the type of story that I wanted to read at this particular time so the story fell a little flat for me. The main story is about a relationship coming to a close, but is ultimately about what we do not see all around us. The things we miss as this book reports are weird, strange, and some of them are just plain disgusting in my opinion. This distracted from what could have been a masterful story of the subject matter of breaking up and how we miss the little signs that showed us that we were not mean to be with that person anyways. The artwork style was the main aspect of this graphic novel that I enjoyed because it fit with the overall theme of quirkiness and well darkness that Pearson seemed to be going for. I am not sure who I would recommend this particular volume to except for perhaps an individual that is going through a break-up currently. Outside of that I feel that this particular graphic novel could be skipped and there would be no real loss for the reader. ( )

Very special little book. Not very much of a story, but the pictures and moments that happen beside build the main part. Strange and unique and precious. I love it!
