Good ending, not sure about some of the subplots. Occasional word choices that are anachronistic or don't ring true. I may read more. ( )

beware! This is not a mystery in the style of Furst or Kerr. It's pedigree leads to Modern Romance Press. Mushy thoughts. A little murder. A cooked up plot that doesn't pass muster. OK cover, though. ( )

For anyone who loves mystery this is a great book! Set in WWII England, the inspector not only searches for the killer of a young girl but deals with his own troubles while coping in the middle of a major war. ( )

Good mystery. I like this period in England for a setting. It is reminiscent of Foyle's War. It says this is the beginning of a trilogy. I look forward to the next. There was one story line where I missed what happened to one of the characters. He reappears and I don't know how he escaped from Dunkirk. Maybe I was reading too fast. It was pretty compelling. ( )

This turned from a 4 star to a 5 star with the last quarter of the book to go. I don't enter to spoil anything, so I will not go into details. ( )
