This 2007 book reviews the history of geomorphological studies of the Great Barrier Reef and assesses the influences of sea-level change and oceanographic processes on the development of reefs over the last 10,000 years. It presents analyses of recently attained data from the Great Barrier Reef and reconstructions of the sequence of events which have led to its more recent geomorphology. The authors emphasise the importance of the geomorphological time span and its applications for present management applications. This is a valuable reference for academic researchers in geomorphology and oceanography, and will also appeal to graduate students in related fields.… (altro)

*Not sure why cover is showing Great Barrier Reef. This is a book about cars, trucks, etc. and the ISBN is correct.*

Children's librarian Pam handed this to me and we looked through it a bit at home. There is a LOT happening on each page; the figures aren't as tiny as Where's Waldo or I Spy, but there's no white space. Illustrations are in bright bold colors with a solid black outline, little to no shading.

There are good explanations of how things work (why does a car that runs on gas need a battery, for example), and the different types of "things that go." Perfect for a kid who's into transportation and will take a long time absorbing everything on each page. ( )

Great book that describes cars, bikes, vans, motor homes, etc.. This is a very colorful book that explains how each type of car and bike work. The story is told by a little boy having a conversation with his father on the way to picking up his mother. ( )

This is a great book for visual readers because there is so much to see on every page! It is very bright and very detailed. As for the plot, it is about a father and son who are driving to the train station to pick up the boy's mother. Along the way, the boy picks out "everything that goes." This is were we get the title. So, for example, the first thing he sees is a car. It is on that page they take about the car. On the next, they list different kinds of cars, such as taxi cabs, police cars, and race cars. When you flip the page again, there is a full spread of a diagram which breaks down the internals of the car, like the battery, the gas tank, the axle, the engine, etc. This is done for many different things that "go on land." We read about trucks, buses, RVs, bicycles, motorcycles, the subway, and trains. Although I do not think this book would make a good read-aloud tool, I do believe it would make an excellent book to allow students to explore during individual reading time. It is very informative, and they would gain a lot of useful knowledge from reading it. ( )

GREAT book, with lots to look at. Some pages have cartoon cutaways explaining how cars work, trucks, motorcycles, etc. Not right for a storytime, but should make a great gift to any transportation intrigued child. ( )
