I wasn't too impressed with this. Derrick Storm wasn't the character I expected, based on the Castle television show. The story was a bit too implausible and the characters almost too typical for a thriller (but I guess I should have expected that in a Castle potboiler). ( )

Richard Castle’s Deadly Storm: A Derrick Storm Mystery, written by Brian Michael Bendis and Kelly Sue DeConnick with art by Lan Medina, works as a metatextual in-universe book for ABC’s mystery series, Castle. In fact, the early promotional artwork first appeared on the show as Richard Castle (played by Nathan Fillion) revealed that Marvel would adapt one of his novels in the fourth season episode, “Heroes & Villains.” The story within the graphic novel sees Agent Clara Strick of the CIA recruit Derrick Storm, a private investigator, to track down a rogue agent. Their globe-trotting adventure takes them from New York City to Nicaragua, involves various spies, and double-crosses. Bendis and DeConnick weave a good, if brief, thriller while Medina’s art helps tie the graphic novel to the aesthetic of ABC’s Castle. The book concludes with a “script-to-page” breakdown, summaries of Castle’s other “novels,” and an author bio. Overall, the story is entertaining and resembles Marvel’s other adaptations of novels such as the Anita Blake series and Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game, though it will primarily interest fans of Castle due to its in-universe metatextuality. This book was in the show, and I was all like "OMG, I'VE READ THIS". Anyways, it was pretty good, but things happened, and I didn't like the ending. ( )

Deadly Storm A Derrick Storm Graphic Novel is the first graphic novel based on the Derrick Storm books. It gives an inside look as to the origins of Derrick Storm and how he began his future career. Although at parts the storyline seemed rushed and a little confusing at times; Deadly Storm is overall intense. ( )
