I liked this one. The shifter world seems pretty clear. The hero was nicely alpha but wasn't an ass and he was never nasty to the heroine. I was pretty amused at the way the heroine climbed anything in reach when she was scared. The characterization of both of them was well done. I liked how even the "good" shifters were not all good. The writing was nicely done and the plot made sense. The sex was plenty hot and there was plenty of it. I'll definitely read more in this series.

Though it's the second book of the series, and I haven't read the first one, I hadn't any trouble keeping up with the story which was good! Argon, an alpha werewolf, next in line to take the lead of his pack falls for Shannon, a shifter with diluted Puma genes and one of the enemy. Pretty much everyone was against their union: his pack of course, other Pumas, his designated mate... but the most dangerous and hurtful was certainly his mother, who didn't have much of mother instincts. The ending was wrapped nicely and although one scene didn't particularly sit well with me, I enjoyed it and even liked it.

A lot of interesting characters were introduced as well, and I couldn't shake the feeling that each one of them will have his own story and his own book; needless to say, I am going to read every one of them, especially Von and Rave who are my favorites and I'm excited for theirs, because you can't help but fall for these funny, strong, lonely and obviously previously-burned guys. ( )

Funny, intense attempted rape scene. Lots of action as well as sex. I liked this couple. A few editing items. I just loved how she climbed him all the time.

4 Purrfect Stars

His Purrfect Mate is Book 2 in Mating Heat series by Laurann Dohner. This one has Shannon and Andrea meeting before the mating heat starts. Andrea saves her from his pack who are trying to kill her. I liked that they got to know each other before things started heating up in the bedroom. The sexual tension between the two was great. The plot was ok and a little surprising, but then it was going to come down to that eventually (don’t want to spoil it).

Shannon is a quarter puma and can’t shift. She is human for the most part with a few extra genes. She was taught to stay away from shifters and never expected her cat side would be noticed by other shifters since she can’t shifter herself. She knows nothing about shifters just to stay away or die.
Anton is a werewolf and first (second son) to the Alpha of the Harris pack and in line to become Alpha one day. He knows a cat even a quarter will never be accepted. He can’t fall for a cat no matter how she turns him on.
