Actually, this is more of a book for people who are into the Delta Green RPGs, which I am not. I'm not a gamer at all, but I thought I'd try the book because it said it was based on the Cthulhu Mythos. This book is kind of a cross between the X-files, a techno-thriller a la Tom Clancy and is filled with conspiracies behind conspiracies behind conspiracies. The meat of this story is that one of the Delta Green agents (an organization which supposedly started with the FBI raid on Innsmouth -- I'll know more after I pay exorbitant book prices to find out what I missed!) was with his cell investigating a strange phenomena in a small town in Tennessee and disappeared. The cells investigating his disappearance are called together and launch an operation to find him. Their quest leads them into some of the deepest of deep cover operations -- but there are certain "rules of engagement" that they have to follow if they want to continue to keep the world safe. There are a lot of characters in this book and the author has thoughtfully provided a list of who's who in the front of the book as a guide. Trust me, you'll need it. The book also goes back and forth in time so it gets a little confusing, but it all makes sense if you take it slow. It's kind of gross at times, but not off-putting to the reader. I actually liked this one and as noted earlier, plan to collect all of the Delta Green books. It is very different than anything else I've read, but it's not for everyone. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Born of the federal government's 1928 raid on the degenerate coastal town of Innsmouth, Massachusetts, the covert agency known as Delta Green spent four decades opposing the forces of darkness with honour, but without glory. Stripped of sanction after a disastrous 1969 operation in Cambodia, Delta Green's leaders made a secret pact: to continue their work without authority, without support, and without fear. Delta Green agents slip through the system, manipulating the federal bureaucracy while pushing the darkness back for another day- but often at a shattering personal cost. When an agent vanishes, leaving behind a lifetime of mystery and igniting a future of peril, a Delta Green Team is pulled into a vortex of horror and deception, destiny and betrayal. From the Smokey Mountains of Eastern Tennessee to the snow covered beltway of Washington, from the depths of Fort Leavenworth prison to the sunny tropics of Puerto Rico, from the sky over China to the jungles of Cambodia, we are there, following a scarlet skein of tangled causality through time and space that threatens to ignite a war between Delta Green and its bitterest enemy. The dancers at the soul of time are calling across the gulf of infinity. Won't you join the dance? Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

Un roman qui se lit tout seul jusqu'à son étrange conclusion, qui demande un poil de réflexion au lecteur pour arriver à en relier les fils.
