Someone finally fixed "The Twelve Days of Christmas" by getting rid of all those dumb birds and people and replacing them with dogs. So many pup-pups!!

The song from the audio CD that came with our copy of the book is in the top five Christmas songs on my iTunes, playing 36 times since 2005. ( )

Seven year old Emma Kragen composed this fun song about dogs and the 12 days before Christmas

I stumbled across this book in a used bookstore and was fascinated by it. It was so interesting to read because it was by a young child, Emma Kragen, who was only 7 years old. While the books language and plot was not that complex, I would still recommend this book to children. The illustrations were cute and the topic was interesting to young children. This book mixed real photographs of dogs with cute Christmas illustrations. I loved seeing my favorite dog brands, like Golden Retrievers and huskies, with adorable holiday illustrations. Seeing realistic huskies on illustrated sleds wearing scarves and shoes was so cute. I also thought the idea of this story was great for young children. It was very simple and just changed the lyrics to the “12 Days of Christmas” song. It filled in different dog breeds on each page and stayed very simple. I just think it is a great concept for children to see a book written by somebody their age. It just changed some words to the song but was original and adorable and would be interesting for students to read. There was not really a main idea or purpose to this book other than the fact that young children can do anything they set their mind too. This was a very cute book that I would suggest for leisure reading of young students around the holidays. ( )

18 months - I just want to hit my head against a wall every time O asks me to read this one. The name suggest correctly this is a doggie version of 12 days of Christmas and seems about 100 times as tedious. ( )

A cute book that used dogs for the song the twelve days of Christmas. Humor is used at the end when the 12th day of Christmas is revealed to be a lone cat. For younger children through repition it is teaching them how to read. It could be fun to sing this song instead of the usual version of the 12 days of Christmas.
