I love this story. I find it to be heart warming, while portraying a deeper message. This story shows young children the negative effects of bullying. Dumbo teaches children not to judge or make fun of people based solely on appearances. This book also teaches children that although someone many look different then us, it does not mean there is anything wrong with them or that we should make fun of them. I really adore that this story follows Jumbo as he deals with the scrutiny from others as he ages. Dumbo shows children to not let what others say effect them. The illustrations in the book really connected and flowed with the story throughout the whole book. I also really enjoyed the different colors used throughout the book. I felt that the colors helped to set the scene and depicted and array of emotions. Lastly, the pictures help guide readers understanding of the setting, theme, characters, etc. ( )

This is one of my favorite children's books because unfortunately we live in a society were people constantly bully others. This is a great book for young readers to understand that just because someone looks different then us or looks different, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them or that we should make fun of them. I also love that the story follows the young soul of an elephant that ends up being the main character of the circus. This book also includes amazing pictures that help readers understand where the setting is taking place, what is going on, and how the characters are feeling. For example, when the older elephants are making fun of Dumbo, he clearly has a sad face and tries to cover himself up with his ears. The author also makes it clear that he is upset by having the mouse come acknowledge him and show him ways that he is amazing.

k-1st. Short and easy. Dumbo can't fly and us upset but the crows teaches him and he learns to fly.

This is a story about believing in yourself. A little elephant learns to fly because he realizes how much confidence his friends give him.

I'm not into the story of Dumbo because, let's face it, I don't care how big the ears are or how small the elephant is, he could never get so much as a millimeter off the ground by flapping them. Nonetheless, Disney purports to tell just such a story, and this book basically follows the movie. ( )
