Review/Critique: A girl wakes up her dad in the middle of the night to visit the lighthouse, just like her father and grandpa did. They get up and do everything that her father used to do, until they reach the lighthouse. Once they get there a door that was usually never open opens! And they go to the top. The girl decides that she will do the same thing with her kids. It is realistic fiction because the story could have happened but isn't necessarily true. ( )

Beautiful story of family tradition where Father and daughter are able to share loss and memories of Grandfather together. ( )

Like many of Munsch's stories this book is simple, but beautiful in its simplicity. I found the story very endearing, though some of the emotional implications were a little subtle for younger children. The illustrations were equally beautiful and subtle. ( )
