Ethan blackwood, a normal kid in a normal school gets kidnapped comes to a realization. life is not as normal as it seems. as it is today, ( in a less alien way) the children are blinded by the shining light of secrets. alien forces have brain washed all of society to take over the world and strip the earth of its resorses. but Ethan met the Resisters, a group willing to die for the cause of freedom. I honestly liked this book because the fact that this kind of stuff is happening now. And i can see the resemblance to real life. for instance, the aliens are the government, always hiding things so they don't lose power. this is worth five star rating. ( ) Ethan Blackwood wants to live a pretty normal life, he wants to be good at soccer and be good in school. He really wants to be an astronaut when he grows up. But then, after a big soccer match, he encounters 2 kids who, in a sense, "kidnap" him. They take him to a cave that they use as a hideout, and then they tell him something crazy. They tell him that a couple years ago, aliens conquered the world, and everyone over the age of puberty is under their mind control. Ethan doesn't believe the kids that call themselves Madison and Felix, until he sees what they call fighting suits. The fighting suits are in some parts alive, and in some parts robot, and can fit a person. Madison and Felix let him use a wasp suit, and then they go outside. Outside, enemy robots attack them. Ethan learners that the wasp can read his mind, and it does what he telepathically tells it to. Then, he remembers that his sister is off to college, and sets off on a quest to save her, using the wasp's weapons and his own techniques to fight the enemy robots that try to stop him. I really like this book, it is a really good one. This book has really cool robots, and the book has really awesome characters. The book is really futuristic, and I like reading things like that. It also had a really cool setting, in a town up high in the hills with only one way in or out of it. The book could also really be real one day, the story has everything that could possibly make it fiction ( besides the technology ) covered up in one way or another, so people could actually believe that it was real. I really liked " The Resisters" book. i think that this is a different kind of book but i was happy to read it not many people these can just find a book that makes you kind of feel like your in the story. I liked it because it had alot of imagination involved like insects that fire LASERS!!!!!! but i was happy to get to read a book like this and cant wait toread book 2 thank you ERIC NYLUND Genre: Science Fiction Review: The author stays true to the genre of science fiction because the story takes place in the future with technological advances in things like mechanical athletic body suits and huge fly insects that people can get inside and fly. Point of View: The story is told from the omniscient 3rd person point of view. The main character is Ethan Blackwood. An example is, “It took Ethan a split second to react.” Another example is when the author is referring to a character named Madison, “She stopped and swallowed and looked sad for a moment.” Media: No artwork in book This was a very fun book! The Resisters is the story of Ethan Blackwood. A sports and science standout at his school, Ethan's future is looking very bright. Then he meets two strangers who tell him that his world is not as it seems. His life is quickly turned upside down, and he begins a new adventure. The action goes at a quick pace. It's exciting, but still age appropriate. It reads a bit like a video game, with lots of action punctuated by some story thrown in there. I think it's a great summer read for kids, especially ones who enjoy video games. It should keep their interest, but also brings up good points about thinking for yourself. The book goes by very quickly, and it leaves you wanting more. I think this is a great kid's book. It will get them involved in the story quickly, and the characters are easy to relate too. I think it can serve as a gateway book for kids to show them that they can be just as exciting and fun as other forms of entertainment. Any book that can get kids reading is awesome to me.
