Literary nonfiction book about various animals and what they eat. There are some really disgusting examples, so I generally ask the kids to be listening for the most unique or disgusting food that the animals eat and then they write the facts down and share them with the class at the end. ( )

This book is informs children on what different types of animals eat and how they are able to eat their food.
Personal Reaction:
I love that this book is able to keep children interested while teaching them something at the same time.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
After reading this book to a group of early childhood students I would create a matching worksheet with the pictures of the animals on the left and in a right column I would have foods that the animals eat. I would ask my students to draw a line from the animals to what they like to eat.
Another idea would be to have my students each take on a role of an animal and then have the student stand up in front of the class and say what they like to eat and do and then have the other classmates guess what animal that student is.
