This is the story of Rosina, a woman living in Montreal, whose family has, for generations, denied their aboriginal ancestry. Rosina is in therapy as she is haunted by the ghosts of her family, as well as by an ancient Parisien police officer and the mine workers who died on the site where her home now sits.

It's hard to describe this book. It is not a ghost story; there isn't much plot. The text consists of Rosina's thoughts as she goes about her daily life....thoughts that are disjointed and display a unique perspective on reality. I found this style difficult to get into at first, but stuck with it and, by the end, had a empathy for Rosina and what she was going through. Not sure I completely understood her, but life's like that sometimes. ( )
