An interesting and easy to read book on a soldier who fought in both world wars. It includes a fair bit on his early and inter-war life, which I also found of interest. He served in the British Army during WWI, earning himself a Military Medal. If there is any fault in the book it is that his WWI service is glossed over. He immigrated to Australia and joined the Permanent Forces in the 1930's and served as the Regimental Sergeant-Major of the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion in Singapore. He tried to escape and this is a real adventure story, was recaptured and worked on the Burma-Thai railway. While he survived the war and lived another 30 odd years there is very little on his post war life. Overall a good read of an interesting life. ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
