Wil shows promise as a fiction writer, but still hasn't quite produced something that is wholly fiction and maintains consistency. The works presented within feel as if they were merely writing workshop projects that weren't ready for prime time yet. ( ) I was pleased to read Wil Wheaton's first published collection of fiction - a set of short stories, published in a limited edition at the end of 2010 (although the copy I have notes the date, presumably for copyright, as 2009). Written in the clear but unevenly descriptive style familiar from his blog and other works, these stories clearly bear Wheaton's imprint - they were enjoyable and easy to read, and there is something in each one of them that surprises the reader. With all respect, I think that there is some room for growth here, because I found the stories a bit uneven - some were really enjoyable, and some seemed that they could use a little tweaking. However, I'd recommend the collection for any fan of Wheaton's or good writing in general; it's an easy, pleasant read, and great for sharing! A limited edition print run, subtitled "a very short collection of very short stories available for a very short time" via Lulu. Wheaton's been dithering over publishing his fiction writings and from this short sample, I hope that he's willing to release more. I want to find out what happens next in his zombie apocalypse story as well as the poker-noir one. It is very very short, only 50 pages, but worth reading. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
