Personal reaction: I have read this story many times, as an adult and a child. I love reading this to my children because it gives the history of a holiday that we hold dear to us.
Extension Ideas: during the month of November, this book could be read a loud in circle time. Upon completion, I could have the children build their own paper cornucopia and draw pictures of the types of food they would like to have during Thanksgiving.
2.) i could have a history lesson on the travels of the pilgrims, using push-pins on a map, i would have the trail marked off...where they have been and where the ended. The children could take turns finding the places on the map, for me to pin. (
