Nearly all of the experiments can be done using only basic household materials, and they almost all flow naturally from questions students might ask themselves in the course of riding their bikes. One downside is that in general it doesn't ever say what results you should get, so if students do it wrong they might not be able to clarify their results without teacher or expert assistance.
What was particularly appealing about Physics on Wheels was that it seemed to have a genuine focus on getting students interested in science. It has a very nice introduction explaining how people use the scientific method to ask questions about their world, and learn, which I found very clear and appealing on a student level. This could be used to help students who like bikes understand how science is all around them.
I have used this book in my Physics classroom, and recommended an experiment to the biology teacher at my school as well. So glad I picked it up at random. ( )
