This book is a collection of questions that different students had about weather. The format was each page a students question was presented and then it was answered in a brief paragraph below. Although I think that this book does a good job at promoting question asking, the questions that are shown are relatively surface level so I wouldn't use this for older than primary students. Even though I don't think that this book does the best job at teaching weather and scientific question, I do think the format is really fun. I think using this book format as an example in an intermediate classroom to them create something similar with our own classroom question would be really fun.

This book is an informational text that describes the science behind weather movement wind the formation of tornados. The scientific focus is on earth science. The book is formatted to answer student questions. For example, Cassidy, age 7, asks “why does weather change.” The book goes on to explain the answer. These questions cover things from “How does rain start?” to “Why is Snow White instead of different colors?” To “Why do tornadoes knock down everything?” Instead of sequential information, the book just answers commonly asked earth science questions. This book is engaging and something I would use to spark student interest in Earth Science. ( )

Summary:
This book discusses the topic of weather in broad-stroke definitions. The information is structured into sentences asked by each kids. It then answers the questions with pictures and simple explanations.

Review:
While this book does a great job of answering questions that students are asking, it covers a very broad topic. As a result, not a lot of information and content is provided for the reader. While this book may be fun to have in a lower-grade class library, I would not necessarily recommend it as a supplemental trade book during a unit on weather. ( )

This book is all about weather. The book is in question and answer format, with questions submitted from children ages 5-9, and answers being informative, yet easy to understand and to-the-point. It answers all kinds of questions related to weather; included are such topics like temperature, precipitation and types of clouds, to phenomena like rainbows, lightning and tornadoes. I enjoyed this book a lot and I think it would keep children interested from beginning to end. I highly recommend. ( )

I like this informational text for a few reasons. This book has questions and explanations written by elementary education age children; I would love for my students see examples of NGSS Practice #1 asking questions and defining problems. Some key vocabulary include temperature, equator, atmosphere, and surface wind. Page 8 of this book covers the types of clouds and this could be paired with the Cross Cutting Concept of structure and function. Students could look at the structure of each cloud and learn if the function of each cloud is the same or different. ( )
