This just has to be some sort of clerical error, of course. It’s not until Alice goes to see about a mortgage loan to put a deposit down on her flat that she gets a wake-up call: all her bank accounts have been emptied and she’s thousands of pounds in debt. Enter Nathan, a fraud investigator. Together with Nathan, Alice begins to get to the bottom of what’s going on…and the lies that unravel in the process. Will Alice discover who she really is? Alice Love starts off a little slow, but trust me, sticking with it is worth it. While I’ve not dealt with exactly what Alice goes through, I have been hounded by creditors so I could relate some. Gosh, Backseat Saints, Gone Country and now The Liberation of Alice Love … if the industry keeps it up, I might actually become a fan of chick lit (*collective gasp*). Abby McDonald is amazing, and unquestionably a talent to watch. Only 25 years old and already has four titles under her belt. I’ll definitely be waiting for her other titles to swim across the pond. 4/5. http://www.read-all-over.net/fiction/chic-lit/book-review-the-liberation-of-alic... ![]() I liked this book a lot. It was refreshing to read a British chick-lit book that had an intelligent heroine that I didn't want to strangle for most of the book (unlike Shopaholic, etc.). As Alice goes further down the path looking for the thief and realizes what a seemingly carefree life the thief lives; Alice goes through a personal journey of self-discovery, reevaluating her life choices. This book is fun but it also raises some interesting moral questions about truth and lies. Is it okay to lie in pursuit of the truth? In some cases, do the ends justify the means? ![]() ![]() After Love discovers she has been the victim of identity theft, her life is turned upside down. As Love discovers the extent of the theft and the trail of debt left behind by her impersonator, she decides to take matters into her own hands and investigate the clues left behind in bank and credit card statements. As she pours over the paper trail and extravagant purchases, Love begins to question her own boring lifestyle. As Love closes in on the thief, she undergoes her own transformation straying away from the ordinary lifestyle she's always lead. With a character list ranging from coworkers, stepsiblings and handsome fraud investigators, the book has a long list of supporting characters. While the Liberation of Alice Love is a light read, it is also quite long. The main storyline often becomes bogged down by the myriad of additional characters and plotlines that could have been edited down. I would have also liked a more definitive ending, but overall the book was enjoyable. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

HTML: "Delicious in so many ways, you'll find this one hard to put down." Alice Love keeps her life (and job, and family) running in perfect order, so when her bank card is declined, she thinks it's just a mistake. Sadly, someone has emptied her bank account, spending her savings on glamorous trips, sexy lingerie, and a to-die-for wardrobe-and leaving Alice with lots of debt. As a dashing fraud investigator helps her unravel the intriguing paper trail, Alice discovers that the thief is closer to home than she ever imagined. What's more, it seems like her alter ego's reckless, extravagant lifestyle is the one Alice should have been leading all along. As the little white lies begin to stack up, how far will Alice go to find the truth? And whose life, exactly, is she fighting for? "refreshing, fun, and sexy...a perfect beach read."
